Synergy is an open source and cross-platform software that allows users to easily share either a keyboard or a mouse between multiple computers powered by different operating systems. It uses state-of-the-art network-based (IP) K(V)M switch technology.
Designed for people with multiple computers
This program is geared towards users with multiple computers on their office desk, helping them to use a single mouse and keyboard for all of them. For example, let’s say that you own a Mac, a Windows PC and a Linux box. Each system uses its own monitor, but you can make only one of them the server.
Who does it work?
The server is the one where the mouse and keyboard peripheral devices are connected. Using the Synergy application, which should be installed on all of your computers, you’ll be able to use the keyboard and mouse on the other two machines as well.
In other words. the application will simply "teleport" your mouse to any of your computers. It allows users to drag and drop files from one computer to another, share the clipboard between all machines, or use it for multiboxing in many MMORPG games.
The best alternative to commercial keyboard/mouse USB switchers
Only a local network connection is required to run this software and share the keyboard and mouse with all of your computing environment. It can also be used to transform an old computer into a second screen.
Synergy has been declared by its developers as one of the best alternative to commercial keyboard/mouse USB switchers, as well as to the Share Mouse and Input Director software. It provides encryption support when used on public networks,
Supports a wide range of operating systems
Not only that you will save a lot of useful space on your desk, but the application makes everything so cool, futuristic that you will want to pay for it. Happily, it’s a free application that supports Linux, Android, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and iOS operating systems.
