CopyQ is a multi-platform, freely distributed and open source software project that has been designed from the ground up to act as an advanced clipboard manager on GNU/Linux and Windows operating systems. It supports text and image file formats, and includes editable and searchable history.
Features at a glance
Key features include a customizable tray menu, filtering with matched text highlighting, a variety of system-wide keyboard shortcuts, including the ability to paste as plain text, copy next or previous lines of text, edit the clipboard or display the main window. Scripting support and an advanced command-line interface are also included.
With CopyQ, users will be able to save items in new tabs and tree, as well as to store text, images or HTML documents in various formats. You can quickly browse through items, sort items, create new ones, remove them, copy or paste to different tabs, add notes to items or quickly paste to a focused window from the main window or the system tray icon.
The program allows users to fully customize its appearance, including fonts, colors and transparency, ignore clipboard entries that have been copied from certain windows or if they contain some specific text, as well as to apply custom or automatic commands to highlighted clipboard items.
Comes with a command-line interface
Another interesting feature is an integrated command-line interface, which comes with numerous commands, allowing experienced Linux users to integrate it better into the desktop environment, as well as to make use of its advanced features.
Supported operating systems and availability
The application is written in the Qt GUI toolkit, which means that it’s cross-platform, supporting the Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. On GNU/Linux, it is available for download as source and binary archives for the Arch Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, openSUSE, Fedora, Gentoo and other distributions. Both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are supported at this time.
