Install vocPuppy

 

1.     System requirements

 

Office 2000 (or Office XP or Office 2003)

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or higher version

 

If Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or higher version is not installed on your computer yet, please download and install it from Microsoft web site.

2. Install vocPuppy

 

Before you start vocPuppy installer, if Internet Explorer or Office software, such as Word, Outlook are running, please be sure to close them. Then double-click setup.exe to start vocPuppy installer.

 

 

In the first step of the installation wizard, make sure to select “Just me” option.

 

 

In the second step of the installation wizard, if you select “Yes” option, a sample vocabulary will be installed so that you may use it to learn how to use vocPuppy without having to build up a vocabulary from scratch first.

After vocPuppy is installed, the Vocabulary Explorer button is added on the toolbar of the MS Office software and Internet Explorer.

In the above figure, you may see that Vocabulary Explorer button is added on the MS Word toolbar

Also, a few shortcuts are added in Start menu.

Vocabulary Explorer: A tool to build up and explore vocabularies.

Update vocPuppy: A tool to check the latest version of vocPuppy on WebChoir website and perform software update if needed.

Register vocPuppy: A tool to Register vocPuppy using the Product Key Provided by WebChoir.

3. Vocabulary Explorer button in Internet Explorer

After installation, if the Vocabulary Explorer button doesn’t appear in Internet Explorer, click IE menu View->Toolbars->Vocabulary Bar then a new toolbar with Vocabulary Explorer button will show up under IE address bar.

 

You may drag the Vocabulary Explorer button onto the IE standard toolbar by using mouse to drag the handle in front of the Vocabulary Explorer button.

 

If there is no handle in front of Vocabulary Explorer button, click IE menu View->Tool bars->Lock the Toolbars then the handle will show up.
