INTRODUCTION:
Thank you for downloading
TweakFPS for FS2004. TweakFPS is designed to take the blood, sweat
and tears out of manipulating the FS9.Cfg file with a view to
adjusting the scenery settings, thus providing a quick way to apply
various "Scenery Modes". The modes range from the maxed out "VFR -
Screenshot" mode to the minimal "IFR - Best Performance" mode.
INSTALLATION:
Launch the setup.exe file and
follow the onscreen prompts. TweakFPS will be automatically
installed to your default FS9 folder (this is where it needs to be
installed).
UPGRADE/REGISTERED USERS:
If you are a registered user
installing from a previous version there is not need to uninstall
the program. Simply install to the default location and TweakFPS
will overwrite the outdated files. Your registration details will be
preserved.
BUG
FIXES/UPDATES:
Please consult this section and
check the version number you have (See "About") against this list.
If the issue has still not been addressed please email us at
bugreport@tweakfs.com as
we appreciate user feedback so that we can continue to refine
TweakFPS as much as possible. We would like to thank all those
who made suggestions for improvement or pointed out bugs and issues.
Version 1.4 - January 29, 2005
Update: Use No Flight option
added to the Settings page. By request, this option when ticked will
instruct TweakFPS to boot up FS2004 (if it is not running already)
without any specified flight. FS2004 will start up normally, if you
normally have FS2004 opening to a flight then it will go to that
default flight, if you usually have the opening screen showing then
it will go to the opening screen. In other words it starts up FS2004
with no added parameters. With this option is ticked, if the FS2004
button is clicked and FS2004 is already detected as running TweakFPS
will inform about it. FS2004 will not accept a command to execute
itself if it is already loaded into memory, but it will if a desired
flight is added as a parameter, at any rate TweakFPS will cover all
scenarios and keep the user informed.
Status: Done.
Update: Check for existence
of the selected startup flight. If the user specified a flight for
use with booting up FS2004 on the settings page and it is no longer
present (eg. because it was deleted by the user at a later time)
there may have been an error message on starting up FS2004. Now
TweakFPS runs a check and if it is not found an information box will
advise. Status: Added.
Bug:
The DYN_SCN_DENSITY tool-tip was displaying the wrong
range information.
Status: Fixed.
Bug:
Cascading error message on startup. A handful of users
reported that when running TweakFPS a cascading error mesage would
appear and TweakFPS had to be shut down via the Windows Task
Manager. This generally only happened on running the program for the
first time or when running it under a different non-Administrator
Windows user login account.
Status: Fixed.
Update: FS2004 Menu adds link
to TweakAircraft. This updated version of the TweakFS.dll which is
installed to your FS9\Modules folder and enables you to launch any
of the TweakFS products from within FS2004, now also adds the link
for the TweakAircraft application. If you do not want this menu
simply delete the TweakFS.dll file from the FS9\Modules folder.
Status: Done.
Version 1.3 - September 6, 2004
Update:
Default path to FS9.exe now editable. TweakFPS
automatically searches for the path to your FS9.exe file by looking
in the registry (if FS2004 has been installed correctly). In a few
isolated cases users have either copied the FS9 folder to another
location/drive and the registry entry is no longer valid, or in
other cases the registry entry was corrupted or deleted. If that was
the case TweakFPS could obviously not located the FS9.exe path. This
update adds an additional path entry box on the "Settings" page that
allows the user manually set the path to the FS9.exe and will also
check for the integrity of the path. If the FS9.exe is
not in the indicated folder TweakFPS will alert the user to this
when pressing either the "FS2004" or "Apply" buttons.
Status: Completed.
Version 1.2 - June 16, 2004
Update:
FS2004 Menu. This version includes the TweakFS.dll which is
installed to your FS9\Modules folder and enables you to launch any
of the TweakFS products. If you do not want this menu simply delete
the file from the FS9\Modules folder.
Status: Completed.
Issue:
Possible to enter a blank as a new value. Now a check for
this scenario disallows blank values from being plugged in. Status:
Resolved.
Bug:
Runtime 216 error. Some systems (particularly Windows XP Pro)
may have had a Runtime216 error on shutdown. Status: Fixed.
Version 1.1 - May 26, 2004
Update:
Ability to rename the Scenery Modes and Descriptions (except the
protected "Original FS9.Cfg" mode). The default modes, descriptions
and settings are basically arbitrary and may not exactly reflect the
style of flying some folks do. Also when a mode is customized by a
user it may end up being far from what the mode name and description
describe. To rename simply select the mode, then right-click on it
to bring up the edit box. The same applies to the description,
right-click it to edit. The
description field has been enlarged and when you right click it the
data entry box has the same width and font so as to give an
approximation of how the new description will look.
Status: Done.
Update:
Restore is selective. When clicking the restore button you will
be able to select what
you specifically want to restore to default - the Mode Name,
Description, the program default
values or any combination of the three. If any checkbox is grayed it
suggests the option is
not available because no custom values have been detected.
Status: Completed
Version 1.0 - May 20, 2004
Initial release.
TRIAL VERSION:
This is a trial version of
TweakFPS. It is functional except that there is a limit of 2 modes
available. To enable the other modes you will need to purchase a
Registration Code.
