Free Form Pages

Free form pages allow you to arrange and size pictures on a page without restriction. In comparison to a layout page, it takes more steps to prepare the photos because you have to size and move them. You should use a layout page if for example, you just want to print a couple of 5 x 7 images. If you want to print a collage of overlapping photos, then the free form page is a better choice.

Adding Pictures

Every page size will automatically have a free form page at the top of the list of layout templates. Double click on the free form layout to add it to the main display.

Once you have added the free form page, you will see the words "Free Form" in the middle of the page indicating you can drop pictures anywhere on the page.

You have two choices in how you add a picture to the free form page.

1) Create a frame on the page and then drop the picture onto the newly created frame.
2) Drop the picture on the free form page and then assign a frame size to the picture.

With either method, you will end up with the same result.

Creating a Frame

When you right click on the free form page, you will see a "Create Frame" menu that will allow you to choose a built-in frame size or one of the custom frame sizes you created. Shown below is an example 3 x 5 frame being added to the free form page.

Once you have selected a frame, you can call up the Attributes window (menu item: Image->Attributes) and examine and change the frame dimensions. Shown below is the Attributes window.

If you choose to first drop the picture on the page, then you can manipulate the frame size via the Frame Size menu or use the Attributes window.

Back To Front Ordering

Once you have the pictures on the page and if they overlap, you can use the Arrange menu items choose which picture is on top of the others.
