Categories can be grouped to clarify details of payment, such as a transaction with a "Payment Destination" of "Apples" belongs to the category "Expenses: Food: Fruit.
Categories suitable for filtering and searching, as well as to create reports and analyze financial information.
Categories are of two types: Expense and Income. In accordance with its type category also defines the type of transaction, which it belongs.
Categories are organized in a hierarchical structure with unlimited levels. All categories have the same type as the parent category.
Under "Categories" all the categories displayed in a hierarchical drop-down list. For each category, its name and type are shown. You can always edit the category name.
To add a category, you can either click the button to create a new category at the same level as the selected category. Or click the button
to create subcategories of selected category. Then you must enter the name of the new category. It must be unique in its level in the hierarchy. If a new category added to the root of a hierarchical list, you may need to set its type. Category type can be set only for root cartegory.
To delete category, use the button . Thus, if the selected category is used in the transactions, the Personal Ledger will give a warning and offer a choice:
As well as Project, categories can be managed directly on the tab "Transactions". Namely, you can create categories by specifying the full name of the category (including subcategories - the path separated by ':') in the edit field "Category" in the editor of transactions. Or create or remove in a special pop-up window by clicking the special button "Select the category" on the right of the editing category. For more information see Editing transaction field section
