MacFileSafeguard allows user to review and edit
the permissions list to control access to files and folders.
The permissions list window
The view shows the permissions list.It has the following columns:
- Read: File/Directory read permission.
- Write: File/Directory write permission.
- Delete: File/Directory delete permission.
- Path: File/Directory path.
Editing an existing permission
To modify an existing permission select the permission, you would like to edit. In order to edit the permission, do one of the following:
- Double click permission in the permissions list
- Choose Permissions > Edit Permission from the menu bar
- Click the Edit button
 in the toolbar
In either case a Permission edit dialog will show up where the user can set up File/Directory read, write, delete access attributes
After Permission have been updated close a Permission edit dialog.
After all required changes have been made save the Permissions list by doing one of the following:
- Choose Permissions > Save from the menu bar
- Click the Save button
 in the toolbar
Creating new Permission
To create a new Permission do one of the following:
- Choose Permissions > New Permission from the menu bar
- Click the New button
 in the toolbar
In either case a Permission edit dialog will show up where the user can select File/Directory and set up read, write, delete access attributes.
After permission attributes have been updated close a Permission edit dialog and when all new permissions have been added save the permissions list by doing one of the following:
- Choose Permissions > Save from the menu bar
- Click the Save button in the toolbar
Delete Permission
To delete an existing permission select the permission from the permissions list and do one of the following:
- Control click (or right click) the selection and choose Delete from the contextual menu.
- Choose Permissions > Delete from the menu bar.
- Click the Delete button
 in the toolbar
Stop/Start Permissions
To stop or start user permissions activated MacFileSafeguard Editor preferences window:
- Choose MacFileSafeguard Editor > Preferences from the menu bar.
- Click the Preferences button
 in the toolbar
- Select Permissions tab
- Click the Stop/Start button in the tab
