WARNING: If you're already using the Notes area on your iPod, please back up any notes you already have on to your PC or to another folder of your iPod before installing the phrasefinder.

1. Click the link below to download the installer from the Collins site.

http://www.collinslanguage.com/iphrasefinder

2. Unzip the download.

3. Connect your iPod to your PC.

4. Open the folder ipod_sample_v3, and double-click on the following file: SetupiPod.exe.

5. When you click on setup SetupiPod.exe, you should get the following screen once you’ve accepted the user licence. If you get an error message (with a red exclamation mark on the iPod), see the Appendix below.

6. Click 'Install'.

7. Once the program has been installed, a dialogue box will pop up:

8. That's it - you’re ready to start using the Phrasefinder on your iPod. To do this, click on 'Extras', then click on 'Notes'. Wait for the notes to be loaded onto your iPod. Select 'Conversation', then the area of interest, eg 'Complaints', and select a phrase. Select and click on 'Click to listen' to hear the translation. You can move on to the next phrase by selecting 'Next phrase'. Use the 'Menu' button to move back.

Appendix:

If you get the following error message with a red exclamation mark over your iPod, then you need to change your iPod preferences within iTunes. See below.

Open iTunes, and select ‘Preferences, from the 'Edit' Menu. Click the iPod tab, then the 'Music' tab, and check the box 'Enable disk use'. This allows you to use your iPod as a storage device (like a USB drive), but it does mean you have to manually eject your iPod before disconnecting it. (See next page.)
